Julie Brown (born in Detroit, Michigan, USA, in 1964), is managing director of Polar Circles since 1999. Married to Dixie Dansercoer, together they have four children (Jasper, Evelien, Thijs en Robin) and reside in Belgium.
Brown's first polar expedition, Antarctica 2000, was guided by Dansercoer for six weeks during the Millennium Period between 1999-2000 . Julie has since served as the project coordinator for expeditions such as Bering Strait Odyssey in 2005 (based in Nome, Alaska) and In the Wake of the Belgica in 2007-2008 (based in Ushuaia, Argentina). Together with Stefan Maes, she also managed Antarctic ICE in 2011-2012 and Greenland ICE in 2014.
Julie is the author and co-author of several books, including her most recent Surpassing Sastrugi published by Snoeck in 2014.
Julie’s approachable technique during her corporate keynotes and various public speaking events allows her to share valuable anecdotes from both on the ice and behind the scenes of intricate polar expeditions. Her skilled tips and tricks regarding project management, effective communications, and team motivation allow her audiences to make the link to their own unique professional and personal challenges.
At present, Julie also serves as project & communications coordinator for Polar Experience, the company’s polar guiding division.
